SUBCO AT A GLANCE

SUBCO, is a 501(c)3 membership organization composed of property owners, residents, block clubs, churches and businesses. Located on the Southeast side of Chicago, our boundaries are Stony Island Ave on the west, to Yates on the East and 76th on the North, to 81st on the South. We have been working to improve our neighborhood and the quality of life for all concerned for the last 15 years.

12 SUBCO banners are present in the South Shore Neighborhood. Recently we raised SUBCO banners on 79th St from Stony Island to Jeffery Blvd on the South Side of the street.

Charity Event

OUR INITIATIVES

  • To Promote Community Improvement

  • To work with businesses, churches, residences, hospitals, banks and government agencies to develop relationships that help to build, restore and ensure that changes occurring in the neighborhood are positive and beneficial

  • To work and help develop quality schools in the area, ie: partnerships

  • To work with the youth through mentoring, community service, service learning hours, summer jobs, work force development and training opportunities

  • To create a South Shore Historical Society/Meeting Center to preserve the landmarks and history of the neighborhood

  • Through the SUBCO Connect-A-Block meetings, create awareness of and encourage community participation relating to issues that affect the well being and quality of life

OUR ACCOMPLISHMENTS:

  • Putting up SUBCO Banners on 79th St between Stony Island and Jeffery Blvd

  • Placing Planters on 79th Street

  • Having a mural painted with our resident in the drawing

  • Cleaning up debris on several corners around our community

  • Working with Alderman to get street lights upgraded
